Yes, there is actually a polo field on South Padre Island!  To play golf, you have to go elsewhere.  The view of the Bay might be somewhat distracting to watchers as the field is right adjacent to the Bay, and the scenery is just beautiful. Always a cool breeze- a great spot to hold a practice or game.
